Fat Tuesday ! For those of you who celebrate . The office and the ones I collected celebrated on Fat Monday . What ? It’s a  Thing !  So I ended up making 4 king cakes. Not that I wanted to. It just happened that way . I was so distracted the 1^st go round I forgot the eggs. I put them in at the end. And even though it mixed . Derek was convinced it would not turn out.  So there I was making another batch .  One Cake went to work . 2^nd was cut into pieces and given to children and Katie , 3^rd was given to my mom and the 4^th was over cooked. I just happen to work with Katie’s Dad who came for cake and his wife wants a whole cake. I suppose I can make one on my own. I don’t so well at the rolling of the dough. I’m not tall enough.  But I will give it a go on my own .

Life has resumed as normal . No pick up at 3pm and definitely less cooking of dinner and no kitchen to clean up . I had really good intentions of going walking last night . And it didn’t happen. I had the shoes on . But nope .  Took the trash out. Found some clothes for the next day , took a shower and climbed into bed every early . And someone might say I was sad. I’m not even close. I totally forgot to lay out my chicken to cook this week AGAIN ! . And I’m not going home for lunch.

My dear little friend did not have  a good morning . 1^st she was stopped by DPS going 10 over the speed limit. Thankfully no ticket. 2^nd she was rear ended in the school drop off line by no other than a Prius . She questions why it wasn’t the Yukon or Tahoe. But the silly Prius that just messed with her back hatch door and seal. So she dropped the car to get a estimate and she is starving . Fingers are crossed for Ban Moon.

March 20-21 I will head to Oxford Mississippi to take the Pumpkin’s graduation photos. I really really hope they turn out. Because I have said it before I am not a photographer! I give it a good try though. I have had very happy un-paying customers. And that’s a really long way to go for nothing . But she has assured me it will be fine and there are 6 friends and she has sent the rate all in cash . Smart cookie.

And Friday has finally come the King cakes are made and there is hotel book in Corpus with my name on it. And I am so ready to go home for a 24 hours. It may seem like a long drive for some but it’s not for Derek or I . I should report back but tales to tell come Monday .

Roses are red and Violets are Blue Sugar is sweet . Well of course it is its sugar! Valentines was most uneventful day . The girls texted at 5 they were going out . Derek wasn’t hungry but also wanted to know what was for dinner. He went to bed at 7:30 and I made Mac n Cheese. And watched TV and ordered Free People. I have not slept that hard in a long time and it was so good .  Apparently, Derek slept in also for a change. I asked “ did you hear the children come home ? “ Yes they were slamming doors and trying to go out the French doors I think. At 4AM !

Saturday, we ran some errands. And we grabbed Chick fil A . We went back home and woke the girls up They ate and went back to bed for about 4 hours . While I changed out all the decorations. to St. Patrick’s Day . Which they are amazed by . I guess living in America we celebrate the Irish even if we aren’t the Mexican even is we aren’t cause that the country is made up of. As for them it’s made they do not part take in this. So it’s new and pretty and they send pictures back home. They ate dinner and back to bed they went. Sunday they were on a bus to San Antonio and I was child free for 48 hours .

I arrived back home to find what I left I asked Derek to finish cooking for breakfast he didn’t something on his own . Which was annoying . And this will not be the only meal he messes up today. Derek headed to the place and I went to Sam’s and HEB where I did not dodge the creepy guy bullet. But missed a Wicked Old Witch . And I returned home to take a lovely nap and Helped Derek bag deer sausage . And I waited for Bibigo all day to have Derek ask if  the beans were done yet. Uh I didn’t cook beans . But there are some in the freezer. Thinking why do we need beans for Bibigo? We need rice. Cause well I wasn’t eating Bibigo that’s why . He had me season the steaks. And heat the beans . And its chose to flick bean juice all over the counter top like a child . Wanted a brownie heated up with ice cream on it with whip cream and a cherry added. I was so irritated. I had been hungry all day . And didn’t get what I wanted . Annoyed ! 5 bites and I was over it.  I am so tired of waiting on people and apparently it’s just my job.

Monday came with lots of pinching  and hearing you have to go to work !!! And all I could think was leave me alone ! I do not have to get up just yet . But I did cause there was no point in laying there. I was up dressed and off to work and I arrived to work and never felt more irritated in my life . Sent the Staff Senate email with the agenda and had a room change. Then I flood of email and jabber that there were no minutes and the room changed. Well I wasn’t at the December meeting and I apparently nobody used the recorder for the meeting. And nobody sent me anything so no there are no minutes. And yes the email is different than 2 weeks ago . Cause Special Events called me and changed the room. Why ? Why is this so hard for people to read and understand ? It’s not that hard. But clearly it is. Jordan came by the office and it seems my day is hilarious to him maybe the fact It sounded like I went to sailor school was comical to him . I mean I generally do not speak that way . But for some reason it’s just been a day .

The Children returned by 10pm Monday night with their shopping bags and all they can tell me is that they ate at County Line and Went to tower of Americas that night . You were in San Antonio from noon til 9am the next day and that’s it. I get it’s not that exciting . But come on. That’s not all you did. And then Allison comes to me and says I forgot my toothbrush in hotel do you have one ? Well I would normally say yes. But actually I do not. So there I was at 5am Tuesday Morning buying a toothbrush.

Your Welcome ! Yes I did go get you a toothbrush . I should have made her go with me to get it.

They have been here 4 weeks been waited on hand and foot . And I am tired. I asked do you have any Idea what you want for dinner. Pasta  ! Seriously ? I mean easy enough . But I could never eat this much pasta in 4 weeks and not gain 20 pounds or more. So spaghetti it was .

Wednesday was rainy and cold and Awesome ! Picked them up from school and the question of the day was “ whats for dinner ? “ Turkey Soup !!!!  that took me a miniute. Turkey Gumbo is really what they wanted. Which luckily I had some in the freezer and it doesn’t take long to thaw

Friday Eve never sounded so good. Well one was dying , um she had a stopped up nose. It was Rosas for dinner for them again . Seems to be what they have fallen for . But they had Chile Verde time around and it was quite a warm dish for them this time . Snot runny out the nose.  It was a great sight .

Last School pick up at 3ish Friday afternoon! They said they had to pack and clean. I’m not clear on what they are cleaning. But alright. Apparently Allison ulgy cried at school. Who knew she had it in her? Julie making fun on her the whole way back to campus. They better not cry when I drop them off. Derek has stated he is in a very bad mood and everyone can go to Hell. Well alright . Stay clear from me. Cause I didn’t do it. He wanted to know what the last American meal would be ? Well do we really eat American . We went home as usual they took a nap and started packing . Ella came over got a manicure. The girls picked Turkey Gumbo for their last dinner here. That was a shock

They were a sad sight . They were scared to go home. They didn’t want the flu. They were not looking forward to the long flight back. They just wanted to stay put. So they waited to the very last minute. and I mean I had to tell them we have to go. My house was like a pregnant lady who wouldn’t go into labor.

Julie was so stopped up and sounded miserable I picked up nose spray and taught her to use it. She wasn’t to sure. Until she was able to breath out of one side . And then she was so excited for the othe side of her nose. I hugged them and said if you need anything ever , call , text, email. And then Email me when you get home.

Sunday morning 9:10am I had an email : we just arrived in Korea. Thank you for taking care of us till the end. We miss you already. Never quit emailing us.

Sunday 4:33 pm Huffy thank you for the medicine . I got home safely . I miss you .

My work here is done. I’m off to make a King Cake .

Ella was my Valentine.

Do you get excited over sunsets? I mean there are some nights are truly beautiful I admit.But not to the extent of jumping up and down and running around. These girls . Oh my goodness. It was ridiculous. We started out at the Painted Alley to kill time and then to top of the Equalization Channel to see the sunset. Pizza was for dinner . Derek went to bed at  7pm . The girls went off bowling. I stayed home trying a new crochet pattern and watching friends . It was very exciting.

The idea of going to Enchanted Rock or Sonora Caverns was a great idea in theory . But it doesn’t really work if people don’t get out of bed until 2:30om ! So No nothing exciting happened. They wanted lunch at 2:30 and they were not happy about the menu of leftover pizza. Oh but I’m so sorry I paid for it . Your going to eat it ! They watched movies and well I really don’t know what they did. Saturday night they played with slime and play- doh . Sad to think they don’t have play doh where they come from . They fought over the slime. They had gross brisket tacos for dinner I say gross It’s not something I would eat . They loved it , Derek had chili . I didn’t have anything. Well I had crown . Let’s get real . And I did not wait around on them I am happy to report . I left the house at 9 am to find I had a flat tire . It was cold and there was a screw in it ! And the ding- dong was trying to tell me they may not be able to fix the tire . Oh yes you can . It’s not in the sidewall. They do not like it when you know these things . It pays to have had a daddy who worked for Goodyear.

One votive melted, and candle stuff bought to put a candle into it. For a Valentine. Grocery shopping done twice what for I do not know . I feel like I didn’t really buy much . I bought chicken and chicken. But I did not buy lemonade or Cran Grape . And I just don’t think I’m going to . They can’t put their dishes in the sink , they can’t clean their bathroom or at least keep it presentable .  Teriyaki Salmon and yellow squash  for dinner Sunday Derek made okay I guess I made buffalo chicken legs . Homemade Ice Cream was for dessert and the kicker was brownie waffle . It was a disaster, it came out of the waffle maker and on to the counter top and it was a mess ! But I tried . I new I needed a trail run . But NOOOOOO . I was supposed to get them in the kitchen and do this . Which they where no help . They stood and watched my disaster. And took a video and sent it to Korea.  So Ice Cream with Magic Shell and cherries. And whip cream . Allison was afraid of the whip cream , I said open up ! And NO. Who knows someone that will not eat the cream out of a can. Get real . Julie was all for it . And they sat there starring at the ice cream . Uh it’s just chocolate. And Ice cream get over it. And oh they appreciate my efforts .

I think Derek’s mother did his laundry for him from the appearance of it. And the scent of the laundry soap  and the way his sock where folded. Says Mamu I could be wrong . But I don’t think I am.

The weekend was nice and warm and dramatically cooled off by 10pm and woke up to 58 degrees and currently raining at 39. It’s a Beautiful Day out there. Dinner of week consisted of chicken and rice that I really thought they would like it. They did eat it. but not much of it. Spaghetti and garlic bread, Pulled pork sandwiches, and they picked Rosa’s for no cook Thursday Chicken Fajita. And I got them chocolate cake.

One more week. And they go back home.

Today is Valentine’s Day the girls have been home all day .There was no school today. I left the house at 6:00. I have been awake since 3am , for the 2nd day in a row. And I have no idea whats for dinner. And at this moment nothing sounds good. And I can promise you when I’m hungry nothing will sound good then either.

There is nothing planned for the weekend. I mean why bother ? Sunday The girls have to be at the bus at 8am to head to San Antonio . And they are gone til Monday around 9pm. Derek has a 3 day weekend due to President’s Day . I do not.

However on the upside of this They have to clean their own bathroom !!!!!

Well Darlings I’m afraid this was not a very exciting read. Let’s see what next week holds shall we?

It is Rodeo time in the small town . The Carnival is here. The school children from all over are showing their animals for scholarship money. Everyone who owns boots breaks them out and becomes and cowboys and cowgirl . Anything that can hold a person and be call a float will be in the parade . Marching bands from all the schools, cheerleaders, any organizations. Any I haven’t attended one in many years but I wonder do they still make those flowers out of tissue ?

I pick the girls up around 3:08pm everyday . And Monday they decided at 5pm when I got off they wanted to go to the Carnival. Sweet. I get an evening to myself. I dropped them off. And headed home. Changed clothes. Put chicken on the smoker and 15 mins later. I get a text . Hi Huffy can you come get us ?  Are you kidding me ?? It took me 30 mins to get home. You claimed to Love rides . I think you did not. So I turn off the smoker . And  put gas in Opal and head back across town . I asked if they ate dinner .They replied a Chili dog and a churro . Alright please don’t puke .

Tuesdays temperature when we all got up this morning was our high. Currently 44 the low 29 and a possibility of SNOW ! As much as I want a snow day I don’t really want to be trapped at home with two people I have to cook for. And clean up after. But I could color my hair and do my nails . Clean out my closet . Which my closet really , really needs to be done. It looks like a teenagers . No wink in the eye. And I assure everyone on campus wants a snow day.

SNOW DAY !!!!! it happened. It sleeted all night. I was up probably ever two hours looking for snow like a little girl looking for Santa Claus on Christmas. And all I every heard was sleet . I thought there is no way we are going to work with all that. 7:12am the President sent and email that we follow local school policy on weather . 7:21am Yvette said local cancelled school. 7:40 Campus sent the Text and there we had a snow day . Then I thought man now I’m stuck at home with people. So I told one no school and I got Really ? and she rolled over . The next one Yay! And the cover came up over her head and they were out til 1:15pm no kidding. So not breakfast , Apparently they didn’t want lunch. They just sit on the couch. They don’t go to the kitchen to get food. So weird. I was productive I painted my bathroom wall where my hair gel decided to not spray but rather spit all over the place everywhere but my hair . And Derek has not letting me live it down. I ran to get Goldie and Louie food. ( goldfish) It did finally snow . I worked on Real Estate. Started Taxes . Moved the living room furniture around . Attempted to make a fire in the fireplace . Dinner was parmesan chicken with all that was left over was one small piece of chicken. I had cabin fever and sent out on a 2 mile walk in 28 degree weather. I might be crazy . But others did it earlier in the day with their babies.

Thursday was a Sadly Sunny day Windy Cold . Gold Rush Pancakes for breakfast . I cheated for dinner and picked up Chick fil A . Which the girls have not had that dinner only breakfast .  But to be honest I have never really fix dinner on Thursday . It’s always been mac n cheese. There were no complaints. And hey there was even an origami heart made out of the chick fil bag . Never seen that happen . They decided with the that I am a photographer. They looked at pictures for an hour on the computer . Where we learned Allison’s American nickname is Sophie . Oh Now you tell me ! They worked on the teaching plan and I cleaned the house . Yay me !

Welcome to Friday at 5am I laid in bed thinking I really do not want to mess up my clean kitchen . I really just want to go get donuts. or kolachaes and be done. But then I will want to eat the a donut . And I really can’t eat one. So I dragged myself out of bed and did my hair and my face and went to the kitchen and made pink and orange pancakes. It was hard . I so did not want to . I packaged a brownie and grapes. And at lunch once again I cleaned a bath tub of hair and grime and I do not understand for the life of me WHY they do not clean the drain off!!!!! It’s their hair. Do they not want the tub to drain ? Do they enjoy it filling up ? Seriously considering not cleaning it next week. Just to see if they complain about it not draining. But then it will be SUPER GROSS.

So I forgot them at school seriously after just typing about about that bathtub I never even thought about picking them up from school. My coworker and I just about died . And on that note I have no idea what we are doing this weekend. I haven’t even heard from Derek in two days not that he wants to hang out with us. But I’m thinking Enchanted Rock , get yummy food in Kerrville on the way home. We shall see.

    They sleep, they eat , they go to school. So exciting . They sleep a lot and they eat a lot like babies. I wonder if they’re still growing ? Friday, they survived their day of teaching school. And they will only have to teach once a week. I’m pretty sure they are going to make it.

Thursday, they had Turkey gumbo for dinner and they LOVED it ! There are not photos of this cause well it looks like snot in my eyes. What ? It does!! But it’s very tasty snot . And they headed off to the planetarium . We have a pretty cool planetarium . They found themselves sleepy. 

Friday ate their pancakes and out the door , I went back home to  I know I should not have done this but I did. I cleaned a very, very dirty bathroom . I don’t even understand how soap gets in those places if your showering. And the amount of hair on my lord ! But it’s clean I guess till next week.

I went and got a facial and The Vineyard Day Spa and I’m happy to report my cheeks are wrinkle free again. I knew I didn’t age overnight. But my skin looked as if I had poured Elmer’s glue on it and it dried and each day it wanted to peel off . However thank you to all the wine grapes in the world , my skin has been saved and new products purchased that are rather affordable and I’m pretty happy so far.

I showed the girls cotton fields and found some cotton still left they did not grasp the concept . They should have gotten her sooner. So at the point we should give them names or it’s going to get confusing.

Allison and Julie ? So Julie has some friends here with her. And they were going to dinner with time . But Allison came deathly ill and decided she could not go out. So Julie decided to stay home also and they ended up eating leftover gumbo and Derek and I ordered Ban Moon. Thank goodness. Then Katie came over to get a manicure for her event on Saturday night. We decided that Allison was faking.

Saturday Allison make a dramatic recovery and we learned they do not like Mac n Cheese. I took them downtown and dropped them at Stanos coffee shop . But by the time I backed out and got back on the street they were at the Angry Cactus . And texted an hour later they would be eating dinner downtown. They didn’t arrive back home till after 9ish . I checked on their adventure they said they ate at angry cactus and the pasta wasn’t as good as mine. And then all the stores where closed. Uh yes, it’s after 5. They went to Fe Fe’s according to their passports they might be old enough . I’m a bit confused honestly.

Sunday, we went to Twisted Root they had the Freshman 15, then I explained what the Freshman 15 was . How they ate it I don’t understand. It had an egg on it. Allison said “we don’t eat eggs” and we went for a walk on the river. They seemed to like it down there and the weather was nice .

Superbowl Sunday pretty American you would think , But I know nothing about football, I know , I know . How they let me live in Texas I don’t know. and I left them to run to Dillard’s to get shoes for Derek . And then back to iron all his clothes for the week , I actually caught him watching football which is very rare and different. This never happens ever. Ever. And then I was off to the smoker to cook some pork and veggies for dinner. And I really hoped Derek was going to cook my pork cause well I never know when it’s done. Chicken I know. And it was getting dark on me. And apparently, he went to bed. Oh I failed he mention he’s not talking to me. Veggies ended up on the stove. With the Alfredo noodles. Which Allison liked and they seemed to like the pork . I did not. The leftovers went to work .

The subject of the weekend came about. I offered Sonora Caverns , Fredericksburg. Tonya seems to think they would like it. I’m not to sure about that one. We could do both that weekend one Saturday one Sunday. But Allison said “ What about Austin ? “ See you have to get out of bed! They giggle it’s a 3-hour drive. And there just isn’t enough to do to make it worth it. And we would need to leave by 5-6 to get back home before the deer get to bad. “ Well our list is really long and we would need the whole weekend. Can we just take a train or bus without you ? Well A bus isn’t going to get you there in 3 hours it will get you there in 8-10 . “Oh well I have friends there. “ So now I need to talk to Dr. Dickerson and Dr. Lee . I really do not think I’m suppose to let them so on their own . Or with people we do not know.  Call me crazy . I just don’t think this is how this works.  I could be wrong. However, the Princess has seemed to be busy or ignored me all day like she knows I have something to tell her.

Only tell will tell snow is in the forecast and I assure you the entire campus is praying and wishing on a star and doing whatever it is they believe in to make it happen.

So Quinn was full of life as usually . She climbed on countertops , had a light party . Helped cook the chicken.  Screamed every time the Koreans girls came in the room. And this week she packed a bag and was headed to Mexico for coffee and bean burritos .

So Katie and I picked up the girls on Saturday morning. The house was much bigger and they imagined and prettier. They loved their rooms. They wanted me to tell them which room to sleep in and I told them “Oh no ! Your grown women you decide. “ they rock paper scissor it. No joke .

We fed them Huff mama chicken and mashed potatoes and broccoli . They said in a week that’s the best food they have eaten . Well they have eaten Chartwells so that’s not saying much . Saturday, they slept in . Keeping Quinn quiet was a chore they slept in till noon . They had pancakes. Something Texas was known for , for dinner . Chicken fried steak . not impressed I must say. Milkshakes from America’s Drive in for dessert.

Monday rolled around and they refused breakfast and quickly learned their lesson. Luckily, I had a Chick Fil A cookie and a fruit cup ready when they got out of school.  Spaghetti for dinner with green bean and garlic bread. You always have left overs . Who doesn’t have leftovers when they make spaghetti. Well I did not last night. They were stuffed like fat rats. I did not eat the pasta I stuck to the smoked chicken and green beans.

The plumbers arrived today . They have cut a long hole in my wall. It seems the leak is under Derek’s sink in the bathroom. Which is has complained about for over a year and poured multiple things down it thinking it was clogged. I wonder if the magic purple cleaner ate a hole in the pipe? Such a good hard water cleaner though. I might should quit using it.  So hopefully when I get the girls from school he will be finished and I will have hot water and no longer have to do dishes in the pool house. No fun . This night was most shocking thing I have seen two girls and a pizza . I let them order pizza. They were watching a chick flick in the living room and when it arrived I said just put some on a plate and go to the living room and go watch your movie , you do not have to sit at the table.

I KID YOU NOT ! They divided the pizza between the two , on to two plates and went to the living room and ate the whole thing. I have never in my life seen this happen .

Finally a cold front !!! And drizzle . I really wanted rain. But I suppose I’ll take the drizzle.

 My week had really been nothing but pancakes, take them to school and pick up with a snack in hand with either taking them home or bringing them up to campus . Go home and feed them . Clean up the kitchen . Do laundry , Go to bed. And repeat . Until tomorrow. I have taken the day off to get a facial . Go grocery shopping all by myself and I am in need of a manicure ! Saturday I think it’s a road trip to the Sonora Caverns. They seemed excited about it. Derek seemed bored by the idea. Ella and Jude are getting their manicures on Sunday afternoon.

My lovely Dr. changed my medicine and said “ your head me be a little foggy . “ what did that mean ? oh that was fun for 4 days . I attempted to send an email for 6 hours I think I finally sent it . I’m pretty sure I didn’t eat dinner two nights . I never made it to walk. And holding a conversation. Forget it ! I actually worried about driving. What  if I went through a red light , or jut drove and never actually went anywhere. I honest thought a drink my help but come for some crazy reason there was no beer or crown in my house . Derek was awake until almost midnight ! What the Heck ? That was short lived . Saturday was a different story .

Ella turned 50 ! Her husband threw a party this past weekend . It was interesting . Katie and Kim and I all went . I took sausage balls they didn’t last long. Kim took wine , Katie came with puppy on the brain and failed. Ella got a new puppy Jojo . Mike requested my sausage balls for his birthday on Feb 10 . Which also happens to be the day he receives the Chancellors award . Pretty good birthday . He’s excited about it. Derek did not attend the party he was dying on the couch . And made a quick recovery on Sunday morning.

Sunday we went to look at the winter garden that is not growing. Melted some glass. Which turned out to be a really nice lamp that already found a home. Monday somehow we both had off for MLK day which was not fun . I think we both had things we wanted to do and well . He got to do all his things . And I had to cram mine in, a short week. On top of me finding a water leak . Which is not cool.

We are hosting two Korean exchange students for 3 weeks . Should be entertaining , Right ? I mean do have to get up at 5am and I do have to make breakfast every morning for them. And have them at an elementary school by 7:30 every morning . They are here to see how American school are sent up and taught and interact with the children. My biggest concern honestly is dinner every night. I mean breakfast I can do. I fix it for myself every morning.  And the school is doing lunch . But I mean I do this diet thing and my dinner is very boring! So I guess it’s two dinners? They certainly don’t want my chicken every night.  Derek says I’m going to make them fat. It is possible. Or make them sick.

But they have emailed me a couple of times and they seem very excited and so maybe they will not hide out in their rooms all the time. I know they are excited. I know they are curious where they are staying . So I sent them a picture of the front of the house just to give them an idea. They said it was more beautiful than they expected it to be. Very kind of them. So the next coming weekswill be interesting.

Slumber party . When was the last time you had a slumber party? I mean I know some of you had one last month . What was to be a Sunday afternoon babysitting . Has turned into a Quinn slumber party .

This should be entertaining. When asked if she wanted to spend the night at Jamie’s , she responded and Derek’s? yes. Did they get a dog yet ? no . Did Toby come home yet? No remember he got sick and went to heaven . But when is he coming back ??? Well that’s the thing when you get to Heaven you don’t ever what to leave its pretty cool place.  

So the house is spotless . I just need to go to the grocery store and get Capri Suns and Mac N Cheese I know for her. But uh what do I get to feed them ? Huffmama chicken sounds comforting. But that’s my taste buds. . I suppose pancakes on Sunday morning. Farmer’s pie ? Who know’s ! it’s gonna look like brunch in my kitchen .

Well it shall be a if anything an entertaining weekend . So until next time

We spent a week in Oahu with Ivie doing whatever the weather permitted. And visited the Lava tube frequently. Derek and Ivie snorkeled . Ivie was scared she was going to touch something. And kill something and oddly enough the girl is afraid of a turtle !

We went to the Buddhist Temple , That was my only request . Well they knocked that out 1^st thing day one. It was cool and then if you followed a road which you never would believe there were more mountains . But it takes you to the Valley of the temples Memorial Park . It might be the prettiest cemetery I’ve very seen .

It was a rainy day and on a drive to went . Derek took a nap on the beach . Ivie and I watch crabs fight. We are easily entertained.  Went on to a Taco restaurant. Yes we ate Taco’s in Hawaii I had chicken and they were actually not bad for once.  We watched fireworks from Magic Island, Climbed up to a lighthouse ( that was a chore) .  So many Mai Tai’s , margaritas. Ivie found a pina colada made with ice cream. I do believe she liked it. She bought some awesome sunglasses afterwards. So that’s a bonus .

 There was a lot of eating out and all I still want is something good.  And I have yet to have it.

Everything that has followed and been eh. Just food. Nothing to right home about. Derek has been home. I’m sure in 15 years we have not spent this much time together or it’s been ages.  He’s decided to cook a bit. Which is fine with me. I don’t have to hear he doesn’t like it. Or that’s not what he wanted. I just get to clean it up.

So, in a couple of weeks we have Korean students joining up. I need to find some new bedding for one room. Mainly cause the bed spread in one room gets sun everyday. I do believe it has faded it. And I’m not crazy about it anyway. Time for a change.

Derek is on his kick to sell the house and move to Dove Creek again. So almost 3 years ago. We set out to build a house. I talked to 12 builders everyone of them. Oh, I’d love to build you a house. Never heard from them again. And finally, Derek came to his conclusion to buy a house in town.  Now he has decided the house is to big, we don’t need that much space cause it’s just me. But I can still have a pool. And somewhere in his little head he’s just going to pay cash for it.  We shall see about it.

A very kind gentleman at work has given me the name of a builder and time will tell.

Well this blog was long overdue sorry for the absence. I keep writing starting them and not finishing them. Or I write them and never publish them. Honestly I would love to do a picture blog. But I have a good friend who did one . And apparently that was more work in the end.

Infinite X’s and O’s

Homecoming week on campus is fun. Activities are going on. Friday Staff Senate decorated the campus with streamers down the mall. I recruited Jordan. I knew someone wouldn’t show and two people didn’t. He had fun getting out of the office.

Monday we had a 2^nd line parade with cheerleaders and the band it went all the way down the mall. Trying to get people to attend was a little difficult they were busy. Seriously? It’s the band and cheerleaders walking by. Unless you’re really into walking to the pavilion to get a hotdog from Chartwells. Cause I’m not.  I used the GoPro for the heck of it was a whopping 1:32 I believe.

Wednesday was the Steps Contest Prelims. I was a judge. So it’s not entirely what I thought it was. Steps says it in the title right? Well some tried to turn it into a dance recital? Talent show? Not sure the correct terminology to use on that. But it was dancing not stepping. There where boys who had no clue what was going on. But they thought they were cute.  

And it’s also Whitni’s birthday sadly her birthday day present did not make it here in time. And all Quinn is worried about is Cake. Which I did not make. But I will make now. Cause Quinn is queen of birthdays it seems and needs some cake. So a white cake with buttercream is was made and delivered.

Friday Night Bonfire, it was Awesome!  We actually had perfect weather for it for once. It took a quick min for once side to light and the other side well, it was so going. But it caught on. And then the best part the fireworks went off 4 mins 87 seconds of fireworks roughly $10,000. Derek said “hey huffy ya’ll are kind of awesome! “Yeah we are. Now we smelt of sulfur and smoke and not sure what the heck I got in my eyes but all was well. Toby spent the night at Gran’s since we were not home most of the night and we were leaving for the ranch in the morning.

As we know my least favorite place to visit. And let me say this is my 3 weekend to go there. Yeah THIRD! I have been a good egg, a Super Trooper!  I so need a trip somewhere good for a weekend. But that’s not happening anytime soon.

We headed out and a stop at Walmart to get odds and ends. And a stop at Meme’s Klean Kitchen for an old fashion greasy burger and fries. And we were off.  I’m sure border patrol thinks we are crazy we are either laughing or all smiles when we pull up. Arrived at the ranch and hooked up the camera to watch the back door. Derek shot his pistol and I honestly am not in to shooting anything. But the question always comes “hey huff want to shoot my pistol? “And it is so much easier if I just say yeah, sure. It’s never a yes. It’s loud, its nerve racking. But I did it, and I sucked at it. And I think he may have given up

Later in the afternoon you could see if was raining in Mexico and He took me to the family cemetery where we visited the pasted and I suppose the future. We shouldn’t tell them that though. And then off to Canyons I’ve never seen. And I can actually say those are where pretty.

We saw a skunk and silly me said shoot it and well he did. And then like a dog he brought it to me. And waved it around. Stunk up the truck, himself there are hardly words.  Back to the house for a shower in dawn and some chicken nachos. I would say we had some adult beverages. But he clearly had, had enough. So I had a beverage and I really didn’t get a nacho.

Derek crashed and I sat up talking to Ivie most of the night while it slowly quietly rained most of the night.

Morning came and I was ready to go home! I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Got all the way to the gate and Derek’s tire needed air. Made it back to the house and made the decision to put the spare on. Finally out the gate and headed to Del Rio.  Ivie was texting about an Apple Pie and apparently nobody in the family makes an apple pie cause there isn’t one in the cook book. Well I have to recipes and they have failed me.  She sent us to Chinto’s to get breakfast. We did laughed at the idea. And I really thought Derek would do his usual this. But No  he asked where it was.  Her directions where find the red gas station off the main highway   and it’s behind it. Derek had no clue about a red gas station. And he had never heard of Chinto’s before.  Well apparently the whole family eats there and if her mother ever gets divorced she is going to marry the Chinto’s man and live about the restaurant and eat burritos every day. Well it’s on 6^th street and it’s not a red gas station it’s a liquor store.  And it was pretty good.

Sorry Darlings I went MIA for a week or two. But this one Real Estate Class has kicked my tail ! And I finally passed the test after bombing it the first time. 2 more Chapters and I’m done . And on to the State Exam .

What has happened over the past what 3 weeks? Not a whole lot. Really. Let’s see there was an organization put out a ton of flags out for the fallen on 9/11. It’s a sad sight, but then it’s also a beautiful sea of red white and blue.

A small group small meaning 4 celebrated Ella’s new costumer position. It’s a good time.  But on short notice and Derek headed to the ranch. So I can handle 4 people . Just pancakes and bacon, farmer pie, cinnamon roll casserole. Of course it’s not brunch if mimosas are not being poured all where happy and then enter QUINN!!!!

Quinn came to stay the afternoon while her brother attended a birthday party. We swam, we took a nap. We had a balloon that had a light in and I clearly cannot tie a balloon tried and tried. Then Jordan thought he would be cute and send me a YouTube video showing me how to tie a balloon. I glued it shut with nail glue. It worked.  She is the best. Even though she threw her water at me and got a spanking. She got over it. In return she shoved a Popsicle in my face and yelled the words “SUCK IT!” I said excuse me? “Uh taste it please? “  That’s more like it. And she was a perfectly normal child til her mama showed up and she turned on me. Oh Quinn .I still love you.

Derek was at the ranch killing little innocent birds. They only got 6, with a surprise of illegals coming across found all their clothes, and all the used and empty water bottles and they found Derek’s stash of spaghetti O’s and let’s say you gotta be hungry to eat those things.

Qunn’s Dad wanted to celebrate his birthday by going to dinner somewhere and hanging out. Well Derek thought about it and said “hey does he want a crab boil? “this was the day before. So I called . Health was pretty excited about. Derek and I took care of everything. They just had to bring beverage and tell his friends where to go. They had fun and their bellies where full of crab legs , shrimp , potatoes, corn , onions, and mushrooms. And it’s not a birthday without a cake ! And bonus we stayed home . No bad food or terrible waitress.

And that’s all for now.  Back to Real Estate. The office is really quiet so I’m taking advantage of it.
